People were created in the image of God. He gave us a will and freedom of choice. We chose to disobey God and go our own willful way. We still make this choice today. God?s word calls this self-will sin. Sin breaks our fellowship with God and results in separation from the Creator.

People are separated

"You get what is coming to you when you sin. It is death! But God?s free gift is life that lasts forever. It is given to us by our Lord Jesus Christ" (Romans 6:23).

People through the ages have tried to reach God and the abundant life through their own efforts, such as a good moral life, religion, tradition, the creation.
